We all have heard of famous dogs in commercials such as Gitget
“The Taco Bell Chihuahua.” She died in of a heart attack in 2009.
She died when she was 15 years old. Can you believe this dog
always flew first class? She is also the dog from Legally Blonde
II. Chihuahuas’ are supposed to be, smart, friendly, and very
loyal dogs. Does anyone remember Lassie produced by
Robert Maxwell? (Also known as Jeff’s Collie and
Timmy and Lassie) It was televised from 1954 to 1973. I
wasn’t born yet back then but I did watch it during my childhood
and I loved it. Lassie was a female Rough collie (Scottish). The
Soviets were the first ones to take dogs into space. The name of
the first dog that went into space was Laika. She was a mixed
breed dog. She went on the second spacecraft launched into earth
Orbit Sputnik in 1957. Besides being the first dog launched into space she was also the
first one dying there too. They never returned brought her
back…We can’t forget our President Barack Obama’s dog, Bo, a
Portuguese water dog. Bo was a gift from Senator Kenedy. Obama
quoted Harry S. Truman (33rd USA president): "If you
want a friend in Washington, get a dog." That’s so true because
dogs are so faithful. The first dog that made it to the White
house was Laddie Boy by his owner US President Warren G. Harding.
He was an Airedale terrier. The white house had birthday parties
for him. He had his own dog biscuit cake and neighbor dogs were
invited. Amazing, taking a look at history and remembering or
thinking about those dogs that have contributed to the advancement of humanity one way or
another
